Gifted children with Autism Spectrum Disorder have a very complex mix of protective and problematic issues that can impact their emotional well-being.  Experiencing a range from social issues to interests in leadership and significant specific talents, twice-exceptional children must navigate their identity amidst a varied context that either celebrates their gifts or seeks to focus exclusively on their areas of difficulty. Exploring this complicated interplay, and using the connecting metaphor of “story” with different voices, this session will provide strategies that teachers and parents can use to help a child navigate a complex and shifting world as they develop.
